3 Trash to Treasures from the Stash
Are you like me and have supplies squirreled away from years of crafting? I’ve gotten into so many different things and the supplies for each projects have added up not to mention the thrift store finds I had to have! They are all sitting in a box just waiting to be turned into something wonderful! It’s time to get busy and repurpose these gems. For the new year I’ve sworn to use all of these pieces and turn them into something! Then I will either keep them, sell them or give them as presents. It’s time to be frugal and use the things I have! Let me show you what I’ve done!

So Much Stuff!
I don’t know how many times I’ve cleaned and organized my crafting area! Never keep it clean as hard as I try! I have so many things I don’t have the space for them any more! They just sit in piles, boxes (and more in a few drawers) collecting dust as I go about my merry way continuing to buy more!

New year, new ways! That pile is overwhelming! I almost hyperventilate every time I think about what to do with it. My solution is to narrow the focus and pick only one piece at a time and turn it into whatever it was meant to be. I’ll share each project with you all and hope to inspire you with my projects. So let’s get started!
My first selection are the candle sconces. One had .49 and the other was 1.50. Cheap enough! A quick coat of flat black spray paint transforms them totally to something you could use as is, but to farm house it up, I used mineral and white Waverly chalk paint to distress it and finished by sanding it all over.
For the second scone, I thought just sand paper scuffs would be enough distressing.
Odd Wooden Bowl
Second of the 3 trash to treasures project is this wooden bowl thing. Priced at $1. I love dollar projects!! So once again a new coat of paint transforms it completely. When spray painting remember short burst of paint for a thin cover and no runs. Apply a second thin coat if needed.
When this dried, I white washed it with white acrylic paint. Thin the paint down with some water, mix it and paint onto each surface, wiping with a wet paper towel as you go.
Always wanting a more distressed look, I took my sanding block all over to rustic it up more.
To finish the bowl, I cut this design with my Cricut Maker and transferred it to the front of the bowl. Perfect for some of the flowers my good friend gave me a while back. I will swap out the flowers for fall and then Christmas greenery. Perfect year round addition to my farmhouse style decoration.
What To Do With a Chair Back
Lastly for my 3 trash to treasures, I have had this chair back for several year always intending to make it a trellis. Now is the right time! It’s spring as I write and I’m getting ready to plant in the deck flower pots. Check out Simple Guidance To Planting Annual Flower Containers Time to finally use this gem.
Honestly, I think that the paint is perfect the way it is, so a good scrub was all I did to begin.
Using my Cricut Maker I cut the design in Design Space. Get the design here. Then transferred it to this piece of scrap wood I had painted long ago and never used. I was fortunate enough to have worked at a furniture factory that I was able to collect scraps from! 20 years later, I’m still using them. I don’t know how many trunk loads I brought home from there, but it was A LOT!
Got my husband, who is always there to help me and I appreciate beyond measure, drilled holes for my hanger. Next I stuck the chair back in the ground some and hung the sign. I have a climbing bean plant in the ground and am waiting for it to climb the chair and maybe on to the fence behind it. The lady told me this grew like crazy. I’ll update at the end of this summer how it does.
Love My Trash to Treasures!
So I hope you enjoyed these 3 trash to treasure from the stash. I have more project coming. Past time to use up all the stuff I’ve accumulated. It’s fun to redo old things and make them pretty and useful again. I may even use some of them for gifts so double win! Do you have a pile of stuff? I’ll challenge you to go through it and make something! Please share your photos or thoughts in the comments below.
