In The Beginning
I have been sewing since I was 13. My wonderful mother taught me the absolute right was to do things by making me rip out any stitching I had done wrong. Boy did I hate her for that at the time! Now I’m very grateful as I strive for perfection in everything that I do. My mom exposed me to many different crafty things and techniques. She was a lifelong seamstress and crafter. Thank you mother. I love you! Hoping you can see a behind the scenes glimpse of my creative spaces from heaven! I’m so lucky to have two! I love creating primitive decorations and garden decorations that I now offer at my Etsy shop.

Are All Crafters Messy?
Also a lifelong seamstress and self-taught crafter of many things, I cannot keep my creative space clean! Periodically, I straighten and everything is in its place. The crafty areas stay clean until I start another project and then it’s not long before it looks like a bomb went off! I live by the saying, “Creative clutter is better than idle neatness.” It shows because my creative spaces are terminally cluttered! More than likely, there are several projects going on at the same time.

Never Enough Creative Space
Although I am very grateful for my sewing loft, it could be bigger! Our house is an A frame so I don’t have perpendicular walls. My friends on Facebook group sewing and quilting boards show there crafting areas and I just drool over the big, spacious ones. Heavy sigh…I have done the best I can with what I have and it works well.
Check out this rare glimpse of the creative space clean!

Since we add the addition, the spare bedroom has become additional storage space. I’ve converted the closet, with Harry’s help. He built the nicest shelves for me to store my things on!
It’s nice to be able to see my fabric that is all sorted my color. Other bulky supplies all go on the other shelves where they too are easy to see and get. It’s a breeze to find supplies to make items for my Etsy shop.
Organizing Crafting Supplies
As a result of doing so many different crafts, I have a lot of supplies. I devised a master chart of all supplies and where they are stored. It took quite a while to get everything organized, but well worth the time. All the primitive craft supplies are neatly stored on open shelves because they get used the most. The lesser used supplies are stored away in the three dressers So nice to decide on a project and be able to put my hands on the materials instead of the old way of knowing I had it but where the heck did I put it?! Keeping track of that notebook is paramount though!
Crafting Area Number 2
I took over this area of Harry’s shop for my non sewing projects. The workbench is perfect being waist-high. I’m 6’2” so I really appreciate the height! My sweetheart got me a wonderful rolling stool for Christmas one year that is great.
This area is pretty much always a mess too just like the sewing room. I’m so creative! ie messy! I can create just fine in these environments, but it is necessary to put everything away occasionally.

In conclusion, I’m a grateful crafter for both my creative spaces. I’m also more grateful for my wonderful husband Harry for tolerating me taking over the workbench and for helping and supporting me on my projects. I’m truly blessed!
It’s hard for me to keep things tidy. How about you? I’d love some organizing ideas so share your below. Maybe a picture of your work space and what you create.
