DIY Bowl Fillers and Pillows with Cricut

Have you seen all the tiered displays this year? So many different takes on them and all sooo cute! One of the staples of these tiered displays are bowl fillers and pillows that tuck so sweetly into the design. These little guys are so fun to make! They can be used any where you need a little bit of filler in your decorations. So let me show you my DIY bowl fillers and pillows with Cricut.

Dollar Tree Supplies for the Pillows

I am using more of an infinity scarf I bought from dollar tree to make this small pillow. First I press the wrinkles. Fold the fabric as seem in the photo to cut a square. Do this twice.
Time to apply your everyday iron on design. Center on the front picture  of your pillow. With the EasyPress 2 set on 315 degrees apply light pressure for 30 seconds. I like to do 10 seconds more on the back side also. Let it cool a bit and peel.
Put the 2 pieces together with the design in the middle. I lined up the plaids and pinned for stitching. Leave an opening at the bottom of the pillow.  Stitch a 1/4” seam around.

Filling the Pillow

Clip the corners so they aren’t bulky when you turn it right side out.
Turn the pillow right side out and poke the corners gently.
Time to stuff this little guy and slip stitch the opening shut. I use polyfil.
I was able to get several projects out of that one scarf and then I made a few more with Dollar Tree fabric from scarves and a baby blanket.

Wooden Bowl Fillers

Next on to the bowl fillers. These are very simple to make. I spray paint my scrapes of wood then lightly sand around the edges to bare some of the wood and distress the piece. Next I cut a design, weeded and applied it to the wood. Simple! Adorable and ready to tuck away in your displays. If you don’t want to make your own, you can find these at my Etsy shop.
So what do you think? Cheap and easy! Tuck these babies into your decorations and they are sure to be a hit. Are you going to try some? Please share your projects and thoughts in the comments below.

Great idea to use a scarf to make the pillow cover. I am thinking we could also put velcro on instead of sewing shut so we can change out for the different seasons. Thank you for sharing another simple but pretty design.
