Dollar Tree Basket 3 Ways

Bravely I ventured out for a quick trip through the Dollar Tree store. After all it had been 2 months and I was fearful of $1 item withdrawal! It felt sooo good to shop in there again I sped through and picked up several new things to work with in my projects and I will share how I did this 3 pack of plastic baskets 3 different ways. So here we go, Dollar Tree Basket 3 Ways.

Baskets

So I said I was going to use up my stash and I’ve been working from it on upcoming projects, but as I stated I’m addicted to Dollar Tree! Hi, my name is Sue Ellen. Anyway, how cheap can you get? 3 for one buck! So many possibilities with these little guys and I can’t wait to get started on them. First one gets book pages Mod Podged on it.

Apply the Pages

Generously coat the basket with Mod Podge and start placing the torn pieces onto it. Top coat the paper with more Mod Podge until the entire basket is covered. Let it dry.
To finish this one, I wrapped some jute twine around the handles hot gluing them in place. Then also hot glued one strand around the top.

Second Dollar Tree Basket

For the second basket, I used cashew chalk paint and gave the basket 2 coats.
I saved these stars from lantern post title knowing I’d use them for something. Well this is that something!

Seal to Prevent Chipping

A simple ring of stars around the top of this basket is all that is needed to finish it of in farmhouse fashion. To keep the paint from chipping I sprayed a coat of polyurethane on it.

Last Dollar Tree Basket

Finally for the last one, I hit glued jute twine around the top about an inch down.

Tack the beginning of the twine and begin wrapping gluing occasionally to keep it in place. I used my finger protectors so not to burn my fingers with the hot glue. I like to singe the fuzzies off of the twine with a lighter.
So it’s a little plain, but that’s ok. I plan to use this to keep utensils for pitch ins in it.
So there you have it! These baskets are so handy for storage or decoration. The same dollar Tree basket 3 ways. What do you think? Would you copy one of these or do you have a different idea? What are you going to use yours for? I would love to see photos of your projects or your thoughts on mine in the comments below.
