DIY Dollar Tree Greenery Basket

Christmas is coming! Joyous time of the year! So festive with all the lights and decorations. It’s my favorite time of year. I make new decorations each year. The storage is becoming quite challenging! Do you enjoy making your own decorations? As a result it can get expensive, right? However, if you are picky, you can pick up great things at the Dollar Tree and transform them into beautiful, expensive looking decorations, Well let me show you how I saved money with my DIY Dollar Tree Greenery Basket.

List of Materials

Basket
Scrap fabric
Hot glue
Greenery
Ornament
Candle

Let’s Start the Greenery Basket

To begin, cut a piece of fabric approximately 12 x 19”. Place the basket in the center of the fabric.
Run the glue across the top of one of the long sided and pull the fabric over it to secure. Then lift the fabric and continue gluing down the side to the bottom. Repeat on the other side pulling the fabric good and tight.
Work with the ends tucking the fabric in and then hot glue it in place when you are happy with the way it looks.

Add a Bow

To finish the basket, I cut a piece of buffalo checked ribbon and hot glued it in place around the upper part of the basket leaving about half and inch above to the top. I have a bow to place on the front also.

So now the fun part begins! Time to put the decorations in the greenery basket. Naturally you begin with the greenery. Using picks from the dollar store that cost $1, place one in the basket with the pick to the middle. Then place another one at the other end with its pick towards the middle.

Final Touches

Now to finish it up, I used a pick with a white bird, a battery candle, a shiny red pick and 2 small sparkling red ornaments.
So for about $5 I created this charming, little greenery basket from all dollar store items. I’m looking forward to using this in my Christmas decorations this year.  Are you thinking about making one? I would love for you to share your projects and thought in the comments below.
