5 Quick and Easy Spring DIYs Cheap!

Spring is coming soon! This year it’s an early one. Daffodils might even bloom in February if it stays this warm! I just love springtime and all it brings. Of course Easter isn’t far off either so my craft mind is moving in that direction with these 5 Quick and Easy Spring DIYs Cheap!

Welcome Spring Dollar Tree Sign

As you might know , I love re-purposing Dollar Tree signs! I stocked up on a bunch and then found they weren’t as easy as I thought to transform! Check out my post Best Way to Makeover a Dollar Tree Sign. So following those instructions, I didn’t covered the Christmas side since this sign will be for me. Check out my YouTube video for this project here.
After I removed the sticker and gave the entire surface a good sanding.
I painted it with flat white spray paint. After that, I wanted it to look like weathered boards so I took ink and mineral paint mixed and put a couple of lines down where the sign had indents.

Distress the Boards

From there I used a dry brush technique to give the sign a distressed look. I ended up taking a baby wipe and going over the lines to try and soften them. Then I ran it over the whole board and it smudged everything perfectly!
I also distressed the plastic basket that I want to attach to the sign. using a sponge brush, I dabbed ink, mineral and white paint mixed on until I got the look I wanted.
I cut a design with my Cricut Maker and applied it to the sign. You can find the design in my resource library here. I attached the basket with zip ties from the Dollar Tree through the hanger holes  I then ran a bead of hot glue across the top of the basket to help keep it in place. (Sorry, I lost these photos)
Cut a piece of floral foam slightly smaller than the basket leaving room to stuff some moss down the sides to conceal it.
So now the fun part! Choose your flowers and arrange them by sticking them into the foam.
I hot glued a jute hanger and reinforced it with some black tape. Once again, this doesn’t look nice, but it’s for me. So as a final touch, I cut a small pink butterfly from cardstock and glued him in the upper right corner of the sign finishing it perfectly!

Fabric Carrots

For this easy spring project you will need:
Fabric
Stuffing
Greenery
Jute twine
Hot glue or sewing machine
I choose 3 colors to make my carrots. After I cut my pieces of fabric to the size I needed for the carrots I placed the pieces on my fabric mat and used the Cricut Maker to cut them out. I use painters tape to hold the fabric in place since I’m trying to get every bit of use out of my mat.

Now you can either sew a seam up the side or use hot glue to make the seam. Both ways need to be trimmed straight across the top and nip the tip to eliminate bulk in the end. Turn the carrot right side out and stuff leaving about an inch of fabric at the top.
Now you will need to poke a hole in the top with your finger for the greenery. Stuff the fabric down in this hole as you go.
The Dollar Tree grass comes rolled so unroll and clip off about 6 blades. Cut the bunch into thirds to make the carrot top. Fill the hole with hot glue and stick the bunch down in the hole pinch the top together. This part was tricky and there probably is an easier way, but I just kept sticking the ones that fell out back in gluing and pinching until they all stayed.
Finally I tied a small jute now around the greenery and hot glued it to the fabric to reinforce the greenery even more.

Farmhouse Carrot Sign

This cute DIY farmhouse carrot sign is so quick and easy to make you might want to make more than one!
To make one you will need:
A piece of wood
Orange fabric
Dollar tree grass
Scissors
Hot glue gun
Ribbon or jute twine
Check out my video how to on YouTube
Begin by roughly shaping your carrot to ensure you have enough fabric. Next place a dot of hot glue and secure the fabric. Place the next dot of glue and zigzag the fabric back across the board.
Continue this until the carrot shape is formed.
Take the grass apart and snip the length that looks right for your carrot then add a few more to make the stems thick enough. Hot glue them in place. Also hot glue a twine bow on top.
So now you have a cute springtime decoration that you can stand up on a shelf or if you drill a couple of holes at the top, you can run some twine through it and then hang it. Which ever you choose, it will be a great farmhouse style addition to your spring decorations.

Dollar Tree Spring Wreath

Well this thing turned out great! So simple to make too. I had all these items on hand, but it would be cheap to make too!
First glue the boxwood greenery around the wreath then alternate egg and carrot around the circle. I made this little guy in about 10 minutes!

Spring Cloche

It doesn’t get much easier than this! Number three of 5 Quick and Easy Spring DIYs Cheap.
I got the container for $1 and after I removed the sticker, I simply put a small birds nest that I found and put a few colored eggs I got from Hobby Lobby. (You can make a nest with Spanish moss. Just grab a wad and form it into a nest shape.)
Next I formed a small floral arrangement for the top from Dollar Tree flowers and greenery that I had in my stash. I just set it on top because I might want to reuse the container, but hot glue yours down to make it more permanent.

Such cute and easy Spring crafts! I especially like the glass container cloche idea. I love putting glass containers on my blue marble dining table to compliment the seasons. I will definitely be looking for these items on my next $ store visit. Thank you for sharing.
