Engrave a Dollar Tree Cookie Spatula

Alright, I jumped right on the new Cricut quick swap tools. I love everything I’ve done with my Cricut Maker so far, I Had to have them! Not to be disappointed, everything I’ve made with the new tools have turned out great too. I saw an engraved spatula and just knew I had to try that! Let me show you how I engrave a dollar tree spatula with the Cricut Maker.

This post probably contains affiliated links. My full disclosure policy is boring, but you can find it HERE.

Dollar Tree Spatula

Get the free design at my Resource Library here.

IAs you might know, I have the new Cricut engraving tool.  first used it to engrave acrylic for this project. So I’m always looking for the next cool project. Happily, I found this spatula at the dollar tree. What better than a new, inexpensive project! This fills both those boxes!

Pick Your Design to Engrave

Alright, if you like, get my free design at my resource library or choose one of your own. Measure your spatula flat area. In design space, choose shapes and the square. Unlock the shape handle and drop you spatula dimensions into the dimension boxes. Choose arrange and and it to the back. Now move the design over it and size it to fit. Once you are happy with your design placement, delete the shape.

Engrave the Dollar Tree Spatula

Tape the spatula at the bottom of a strong grip mat. Secure it appropriately in the middle on the bottom of the mat with some painters tape.
So far so good! Go ahead and press make it. Then select SnapMap. Hold your phone level above the mat until the lines frame the mat and turn green. When it is right, SnapMat will take a photo that you can now use to place your design.
If you are happy with the photo choose use.

Click on the design and drag it down to the spatula. I turned mine upside down so it would look right on the spatula. Play with the placement until you are happy with it.

Engraving Tip

Click continue and connect to the Cricut Maker. Choose stainless steel for the material and install the engraving tool. It will be stamped 41 for easy identification.
Move the rollers to the side and load the mat. While supporting the back of the mat, press the load button. Then when the light green light flashes push to start. It may take a while since it will do the design 3 times to make sure it’s good and deep for visibility. Use the painters tape to dab off any shavings.

Engraved Spatula Make a Great Gift

So there it is, just perfect for a gift! What do you think? Are you going to try it? You can’t beat $1 for a thoughtful, cute gift! Make one for your own kitchen! I would love to see any of your spatulas with this design or your own! Please share photos and thoughts in the comments below.

I have a galaxy S9,(android) phone, with cricut design app on my phone and my galaxy (android) A tablet. Unfortunately, snap mat is only available for iOS application. Do you know if it will be available for android application in the foreseeable future?
    Thx

I would hope that the Cricut company is addressing this issue, but am not sure.

That’s a great question and I will fix that in the post to make it clearer. It is in the phone app. Do you use it?

I you don’t have snapmat, you can choose the square shape, size it to the size of your space for the design. Center the design in the shape and place it at the bottom of the make mat. This will show you where to place the piece on the mat to engrave it. I hope this helps.
