Farmhouse Sign Makeover Cheap!

My Dollar Tree stash is getting pretty big! Since the lock down, I haven’t been making the weekly pilgrimage so it time to use some of the stuff up! Back at Christmas time, I bought these tag shaped signs. So let me show you my Farmhouse Sign Makeover Cheap!

Gather the Supplies

Following the techniques I used in my post Best Way to Makeover a Dollar Tree Sign I used:
Tag signs
Paint
Contact paper
Vinyl
Jute twine
Ribbon

First you will want to remove the sticker and sand well you remove all residue. Wipe clean and paint. I used Waverly crimson chalk paint and black acrylic for the edges.
To add more farmhouse charm to my dollar tree signs, I used a dry brush technique with the black acrylic paint.

Apply the Farmhouse Design

Once they were thoroughly dry, I applied this design from design space to the signs.
So that the back looks nice, I like to cover it with contact paper from dollar tree.

Cover the Farmhouse Sign Back

Simply attach and smooth the paper down. Flip the sign and with an Exacto knife, trim the edges.
To easily run the twine through the holes, wrap a small piece of tape on the end. It will be much quicker than just trying to shovel the bare end through the hole. Finally tie knots to keep the hanger from slipping.
I didn’t want my Dollar Tree tag signs to hang even, so I made a rustic looking bow to attach offset on the hanger.

Finishing Farmhouse Touch

It turned out great! I’m going to use it in my kitchen hanging from an antique spice drawer. It looks perfect with the rest of my farmhouse decorations!
So are you inspired? Like the farm theme or would you do something else? I would love to see your projects and thoughts in the comments below.
