How to Make a Candy Corn Pillow

There’s a nip in the air. Fall is coming and that means Halloween too! Got me thinking of how to make a candy corn pillow. There are so many places I could use a decorative fall pillow, what about you? Do you have some white, yellow and orange scraps? Mine is made from 100% cotton and is stuffed with polyfil. Super easy to make so let me show you how to make a candy corn pillow!

Materials Required

Fall just is such a great time of year! Leaves turning, hay rides, apple cider and Halloween! Candy corn always bring this time of year to mind so it inspired me to make this candy corn pillow. I had enough fabric in my stash to make this charmer, but if you have to buy the fabric, a quarter of a yard of 100% cotton in each color will do. I used white muslin and the yellow and orange quilting scraps I had left over. Every seamstress has thread and a sewing machine! Get some polyfil stuffing and your set to go!

Start the Candy Corn Pillow

First I tore a strip 5” wide of orange, yellow and white fabric the width of the fabric. If you can’t tear it easily , use a quilting ruler and a rotary cutter on a self-healing cutting mat to cut your strips. Next, ironed the wrinkled out of them.
Place right sided together and sew a 1/4” seam the length of the strips. Iron again to set stitches then press seam open. Attach the last strip and press the seam open.

My white muslin wasn’t as long as the other so we’ll see how many pillows we can get out of this length of strips.
The strips measure 14” so I cut 2 8″ squares allowing for the 1/4″ seam. Right sides together, stitch the pillow together with the 1/4″ seam leaving about a 4” hole for stuffing. Clip corners and turn right side out. Stuff  with the polyfil until plump then blind stitch the opening closed.
There you go! A prefect addition to the fall decorations.
So that was easy, right? What are you going to do with yours? I’d love to see what you make and where you put it in your decorating scheme. Please leave a photo or comment below.
